In the summer season Cagliari is directly connected with quite a lot of European airports, however not always on daily base. It's a matter of carefully preparing and comparing flight prices. Several flights daily are connecting Cagliari with Rome and Milano.
Cagliari Airport is situated in Elmas, 7 km northwest of the city center, that can be reached within 10 minutes by car/taxi.
Other airports are in Olbia and in Alghero, in the north of Sardegna. From these cities you can cross the island by car (about 250-300 km), by train or by bus to Cagliari.
The airport is easily accessible by train from Cagliari thanks to the new ‘Elmas Aeroporto’ railway station. The rail service starts at about 05.30 h and ends at 23.00 h, with 20 minutes average frequency. The journey to and from downtown takes 5-7 mins, single fare is 1,30 EUR. Tickets are sold by Trenitalia at the vending machines (located both in the Arrivals area of the airterminal and inside the train station), online and by official ticket counters and authorized dealers.
Elmas Airport train station is directly connected with the airport with a indoor walkway served by moving pavements.

There are two bus stations within Cagliari Airport:
A one-way ticket costs € 1,30 in the city center. Tickets are purchased before boarding the bus and can be found at the newsstand for the arrivals stage and at the McDonald's for those using the departures stage.
The fastest and most comfortable option to get to and from the airport is taking a taxi. A standard journey during daytime costs approximately between 15 and 20 euros. Be careful and ask the price of the drive in advance, because you might get overcharged, especially late at night.
